My Favorite Teaching Moment
It may sound corny, but I still enjoy teaching the most when I see the light turn on and the student comprehend the concept that is being taught. When I am introduced to people and they find out that I teach history, they inevitably smile and say to me that history was not one of their favorite subjects. I know that history, especially civics, can be boring and difficult for some students to understand. Yet, when I can discover a student’s academic strengths and then structure lessons that utilize those strengths, I see the sense of pride that the student has in his accomplishment. That’s all the reward I need to make my day complete.
Why I Love Teaching PLS Courses
PLS courses are a means of providing teachers with ideas and skills that are based on current research. Also, the camaraderie that occurs among the participants, and is a vital component of PLS courses, creates an atmosphere that is conducive to the acquisition of ideas and information that will aid the participants in improving their teaching skills.
