My Favorite Teaching Moment
Currently, I am the media specialist at Andersen Jr. High School in Chandler, Arizona. This school of 1,000 students read 1 billion words last year, averaging 6.5 million words a day or about 140 books. I was an English, reading, and journalism teacher for 10 years before moving to the library. I also served as the department chair of the remedial reading program and taught ELL Level 1 students.

About Me:
When not working with seventh and eighth graders, I work with teachers to find, order, and promote the latest and greatest books and supplies. On Tuesday nights, I teach as an adjunct professor for Northern Arizona University (NAU) teaching masters candidates the foundations of reading instruction and adolescent literature.
Before moving to Arizona, I was busy motivating at-risk teenagers at an alternative high school in Utah. While there, I shared a classroom with another teacher who became my wife. We went on our first date after a school Open House. Today, we have five children.
