My Favorite Teaching Moment
I take great satisfaction in developing relationships with my students. Felicia struggled with my class and also struggled with her home life. Every day she greeted me with a big hug and that beautiful smile! My mother came to visit our class one day, and Felicia took to her immediately. She and my mother started sending emails to each other, and Felicia would always ask me “How’s your mama?” I know that the personal connection we all made encouraged Felicia to dig deep and graduate from high school, because she has returned to tell me so. It really matters.
As a teacher, I know that I have the honor of impacting my students’ lives in profound ways. There is nothing more satisfying than having a student say “I love this class” or “You made me think about …” or a simple “Thank you. The more I teach, the more I learn about myself and my students, and I can’t think of a profession that offers that level of personal satisfaction.
Why I Love Teaching PLS Courses
I love teaching PLS courses because I know the content is relevant and ready to use in the classroom tomorrow morning! The strategies we teach are research based, and they provide teachers with tools to improve their teaching, with the ultimate goal of improving student success! As a teacher teaching teachers, it doesn’t get better than that! The online delivery system is so user friendly that everyone can be successful using the technology. The beauty of teaching in an online environment is that we can accommodate everyone’s busy schedule and individual learning styles. It works!
