My Favorite Teaching Moment

I love knowing that I’m making a lifelong difference in someone’s life.

I had a student who was very talented and interested in music, but her parents weren’t supportive or able to help her much. She joined an extracurricular ensemble, and begged me to play the most difficult and most important part in the music. I knew that she could do it, but I was worried that her family wouldn’t follow through and that she might end up missing the concert. I worked with the student and the family to make sure that everything would work out. She did exceptionally well, and the look of pride on her family’s faces at the concert was priceless. I think it made a difference for all of them, especially my talented student.
